That's What She Said: The All-Female Networking & Comedy Event

Last Wednesday night, 150 women walked into Boom Chicago in Amsterdam for a networking event. By 10:30 PM, they were still laughing, connecting, and swapping stories - not because anyone locked the doors to the comedy club, but because the energy was that good.

Feedback of the night included classics like:

  • "I almost peed my pants"

  • "I laughed so hard I split my pants open"

  • "Honestly, how amazing to be surrounded by just women!"

If that's not a vibe check, we don't know what is.

The Day of the Event

On January 14th, 2026, the power came back on in Amsterdam after a 90-minute blackout - the kind that makes you rethink all your life choices, especially if you're hosting a 150-person women's event that night.

At exactly 7 PM, Tiffany and Yoana (co-founders of impowr) kicked off their very first "That's What She Said" event, a three-hour experiment in what happens when you combine ambitious women, networking, and comedy.

Spoiler alert: magic.

The kind of magic where you walk in feeling like you have to impress people, and you walk out feeling seen.

Built by Women, for Women

Tiffany and Yoana partnered with the legendary Saskia Maas (CEO of Boom Chicago), the operational wizard Isa van den Heuvel, and Stacey Smith (Comedian and Director at Boom Chicago, whose hot-pink wardrobe became iconic by 8pm).

Then came the all-female comedy cast: Laura Maynard, Meg Buzza, and Katie Nixon who didn't perform at the audience so much as perform with them.

Picture this: pink prosecco, a signature That's What She Said gin cocktail, quotes from powerful women projected on the walls, and a playlist that swung between Shania Twain, ABBA, and the Spice Girls. Honestly, what more could anyone reasonably ask for - fireworks?

The Why Behind "That's What She Said"

impowr's mission is to encourage as many women as possible to play bigger, step into their confidence, and fully own their power.

Because when women advocate for their ideas, their dreams, and their convictions, the world doesn't just change, it upgrades.

And yes, chasing those dreams gets messy. So you might as well learn to laugh while you climb. That's the essence of "That's What She Said": celebrating what women have to say and having a damn good time while doing it.

Not Your Typical Networking Event

Before the comedy show even started, women rotated through activities designed to help them connect, and later, became content for the comedians on stage. (We call that ethical harvesting.)

Confessions to a Comedian

Stacey popped out of a bright-pink confession booth to collect women's deepest, darkest workplace confessions. Don't worry - no felonies.

The hottest crimes included:

  • Stealing wine from the office fridge at 3 PM on a Tuesday

  • Scheduling fake meetings just to sit alone for 30 minutes

  • The sacred 11 AM bathroom pilgrimage to a different floor to avoid bumping into anyone

When the comedians acted these out live, the room erupted. Because when one woman says her weird out loud and 149 others go, "OH MY GOD, SAME," something shifts: you realize you're part of a collective survival strategy club.

The Communication Styles Quiz

Ever wondered why certain colleagues make you want to scream into a pillow? Turns out, communication styles matter.

Upon entry, everyone got a 5-minute quiz to discover whether they were:

  • 🔥 Fire (big-picture, inspirational)

  • 🌍 Earth (assertive, bold)

  • 💧 Water (empathetic, inclusion-focused)

  • 🌬 Air (analytical, inquisitive)

Then came the networking challenge: find your opposite and take a photo.

Fire met Air. Earth met Water. Suddenly you're talking to someone whose brain works like an entirely different operating system - and realizing: they're not wrong, they're just different.

Fun? Yes. Valuable for teams? Also yes.

The Best & Worst Advice Wall

A whiteboard covered in pink post-its with the best advice and the worst advice - sometimes indistinguishable. One read:

"A job is just a job… just do whatever."

Is that genius advice? Enlightening? Terrible? Who knows, but the comedians had a field day bringing it to the stage.

Your Boldest Dream

As part of the Networking Challenge Card (and the raffle prize incentive, because women love ambition and free prizes), attendees had to share their boldest dream with someone.

Not a KPI. Not a SMART goal. The big thing you barely admit to yourself.

What emerged was a pattern: women know exactly what they want. Their dreams are big, bright, and alive - they just need to give themselves the permission to go after them.

The Impact

After confessing workplace sins, learning how other brains operate, laughing until tears streamed, and bonding over dreams…

Something happened: women felt safe.

And then came the sentences that matter:

  • "I'm checking in on you about this."

  • "Let me introduce you to someone."

  • "Coffee next month?"

That's more than networking.

That's community.

So Here's the Question

What would happen if women could network more like this?

If showing up wasn't about collecting business cards, but understanding how people think?

If ambition didn't require apology?

If bold dreams weren't whispered, but spoken out loud to someone who actually listened?

That shift happened in three hours on January 14th.

And it won't be the last time.
